    Job Description

    Heart of Texas Network Consultants (HOTNC) is currently seeking a full time (40-hour Exempt) Network Engineer in Waco, Texas. HOTNC has been providing IT Support, meeting technology demands and network needs of small and medium business in Central Texas since 1992. We have a brilliant team of dedicated Network Engineers and Office Staff that are passionate about giving our customers best in class service every day. Technical skills are crucial but it is just as important to provide excellent customer service by communicating and keeping our customers informed. It is imperative to provide our clients with high-quality white-glove IT services and support (remotely and on-site).

    Here are some of the skillsets that we are looking for in our next Network Engineer:

    *Strong installation, troubleshooting and support knowledge related to:

    • Microsoft’s core business applications/operating systems
    • WAN/LAN connectivity
    • Routers/Firewall
    • Workstations/Printers
    • Security
    • Windows Server
    • Customer-facing hosted/cloud environments
    • Vendor specific hardware/software

    *Provide remote access solution support utilizing: VPN, Terminal Services, and Citrix. Support services for Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, etc. Support services for virtualization technologies: VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft.

    *Configure and implement complex hardware/network solutions to meet the client’s organizational needs. Consists of but not limited to: Exchange Email, Mobile computing architecture, all Windows operating systems, Firewalls, ISP architecture, Wireless Internet access, etc. Configure and implement network infrastructure to include network servers and network hardware such as routers, switches and firewalls.

    *Ability to manage multiple issues and adapt to changes quickly without hesitation to ask for help, when needed.

    *Positive attitude, towards people and problems working effectively with staff in a team-oriented environment.

    *Ability to self-start, work independently and achieve high standards to meet multiple deadlines.

    *Explicitly proficient communicator, including writing, speaking, editing, proofreading and computer skills.

    *The right candidate will have:

    • Strong understanding of Microsoft networking and domain structure
    • Advanced Comprehension of Network Setups and Configurations
    • Certified Microsoft (or Microsoft equivalent) MCP, MCSA, or MCSE
    • At least 3+ years of IT or related experience
    • Experience working with MSP/NOC Team Environment
    • Technical/Vocational degree, preferably in computer science or a related field
    • BA/BS preferred but not required
    • Experience with relevant software applications, tools and techniques
