    Job Description

    Heartland Women's Healthcare, an Advantia Health partner, is GROWING and looking to add PRN Phlebotomists to our clinical and laboratory team! The successful candidates will communicate clearly and frequently with our team to ensure the highest level of care for our obstetrical and gynecological patients. This role would be 8-hour shifts (daytime only – start and end times may fluctuate based on clinic site) as needed for one or more of our Clinic sites.  PRN positions are available at Carbondale New Horizons, Heartland Carbondale, Heartland Marion, Heartland Mt. Vernon, Heartland Centralia, Heartland Shiloh and Heartland Waterloo.  

    COVID 19 Vaccination required.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Collect all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required by laboratory and clinic procedures and protocols.
    • Administer oral solutions according to established training (this includes, but not limited to: Glucola for glucose tolerance testing).
    • Ensures that patient identification information matches test request information consistently.
    • Process specimens including labeling, centrifugation, aliquoting, freezing, referral and preparing for transport as required by test order, laboratory procedure and laboratory protocol.
    • Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Process billing and insurance information.
    • Maintain patient and specimen information logs.
    • Provide superior customer service to all patients and clinic personnel.
    • Assists with the proper storage of hazardous materials, including monitoring and organizing reagent/supplies inventory.
    • Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitization, filing, and answering phone calls.
    • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
    • Maintain personal skill competencies and assures education needs are met to comply with licensing and accrediting standards and regulations.
    • Read, understand, and comply with company, laboratory and clinic policies, protocols, and procedures.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Travel to additional sites when needed.

    Job Qualifications:

    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Phlebotomy certification.
    • 1 year of phlebotomy experience.
    • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
    • Customer service experience preferred.
    • Ability to draw blood utilizing sterile needles, vacutainer tubes, and other collection containers.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Excellent competency with computer navigation and data entry.
