    Heartwell Renewables is a unique joint venture between affiliates of The Love’s Family of Companies and Cargill to produce and market renewable diesel. Heartwell Renewables is the only entity of its kind to both manufacture and distribute this fuel all the way to the retail pump.

    The Love’s Family of Companies, Cargill and their affiliates have entered this unique 50/50 joint venture to produce and market renewable diesel – a green fuel experiencing strong, rising demand. The joint venture will result in the construction of a new production plant in Hastings, Nebraska. There will be an excess of 500 workers during construction and more than 80 permanent jobs in Hastings, Nebraska. The plant will have the ability to produce approximately 80 million gallons annually of renewable diesel.

    Engineering Internship

    Our Engineering Intern will work in our Renewable Diesel manufacturing facility in Hastings Nebraska. There, you will learn to lead projects on critical/high level initiatives in a fast-paced, construction/commissioning environment. The design of this role provides appropriate exposure to the project management and technical components of the role. The intent of the Engineering Internship role is to allow individuals to be exposed to the technical and management aspects of engineering, while beginning to develop an interest for longer term career aspirations.

    Internship details

    • Internships are typically 3-4 months in duration.
    • Interns are paid hourly for time worked.
    • Interns are responsible for transportation to and from work.
    • Must be open to relocation to our site in Hastings, NE.
    • The plant environment is team oriented, fast paced, and hands-on.
    • Our environment will focus on employee engagement, inclusion, and innovation.
    • Interns are given the opportunity to showcase their skills and gain hands-on experience working on different projects from designing and upgrading current systems, to reviewing and updating plant drawings.
    • This job involves physical activity which generally requires a moderate amount of exertion on a regular basis – involving bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 50 pounds and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds. The work may also involve other exertions, conditions, or exposures (i.e.- heat, cold, grain dust, etc.).

    Compensation

    • The expected hourly rate for this position is $22.50 - $31.10 per hour. Compensation decisions are dependent on graduation date and eligibility for full-time employment.

    Required Qualifications

    • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer
    • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering (ChE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Industrial Engineering (IE), or other related engineering discipline
    • Bachelor’s/master’s degree to be/recently completed between December 2024 – May 2027
    • Able to complete a 3-4 month Internship in the Summer (May-August 2024)
    • Proven ability to work optimally with individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds and cultures
    • Candidates must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate for a co-op/internship opportunity anywhere in the U.S.
    • Must possess a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness in completing work with limited guidance

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous plant, production, co-op, or intern experience preferred.
    • Overall 2.7 GPA preferred.
    • Ability to relate technical knowledge to job-related duties.
    • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independently.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    Skills & Experience to be Gained

    • Identify and prioritize risks and develop action plans to improve programs, processes and systems. and systems.
    • Coordinate with regional leads to update country regulations and implications and manage and promote continuous improvement of plant systems.
    • Lead and ensure all production and operating processes operate safely and in compliance with regulatory and organizational safety and environmental program standards and goals.
