Our client, a very well-established commercial / municipal / federal construction company is currently seeking a Heavy Civil Senior Superintendent with 5+ years heavy civil construction experience (bridge, highway, land / earth development) to be based out of their Goldsboro / Jacksonville, NC territory. The Heavy Civil Senior Superintendent will manage site operations, including interviewing, hiring, training, and managing employees and subcontractors ensuring project safety, quality, and production goals, objectives on time and under budget.
Responsibilities:
Monitor for safety & quality compliance completing daily reports
Inspect work daily, ensuring quality & make improvement recommendations
Assist with schedule and plans to achieve completion on time and under budget
Coordinate daily project team activities to meet scheduling expectations.
Conduct weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors.
Order and ensure delivery of necessary tools, equipment, and materials
Assist in completing pay requests as required by contract documents
Develop a final punch list; ensure all project tasks are completed
Develop and maintain a good working relationship with all contacts
Direct and train Project Engineers, Foremen, and Crews completing performance reviews & coach employees through clear instructions, feedback, and praise
Anticipate and solve problems with a positive mindset and focus on solutions
Encourage and expect honesty and openness from yourself and all crew
Work: Mon-Fri from 7am-5pm typical hours; 10 % time in office; 90% on job sites (within approx. 2-hour radius)
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
5+ years heavy civil construction superintendent onsite leadership experience (bridge, highway, land / earth development)
OSHA 30 required
Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, business documents, technical procedures, and government regulations
Ability to perform math, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
Ability to provide reports and business correspondences; verbally and in writing
Physically able to stand and walk on uneven surfaces outdoors 4 – 6 hours daily, exposed to weather and job site noise
Ability to travel out of town for extended periods and work overtime as needed
Security clearance a plus
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Highly skilled in schedule management, problem-solving, and communication under time constraints and changing needs; immediate response to emergencies
