Heavy Equipment Operator
Are you a highly skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator with a minimum of 5 years of experience, particularly with excavators? Join our team and operate diverse machinery on critical projects in and around Los Alamos, NM, with occasional work at our Rio Rancho location. We're looking for a proficient operator ready to handle challenging terrain and contribute to a top-tier team.
What You'll Do:
• Operate various heavy equipment with exceptional competency, including excavators, forklifts, and skidsteers, in unique and challenging environments.
• Perform essential tasks such as building demolition, debris sorting, loading, and site clean-up.
• Conduct daily pre and post-job inspections and routine maintenance to ensure optimal equipment functioning.
• Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, maintaining high safety standards and communicating daily with site Safety Representatives.
• Assist with various other job-site tasks as needed throughout the day.
• Consistently wear required personal protective equipment (hard hats, vests, safety glasses, safety toe boots, hearing protection, fall protection, respirators, etc.).
What We're Looking For:
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of previous experience operating heavy equipment, with a strong focus on excavators.
Robust mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment operation, maintenance, and field repairs.
Ability to read and interpret plans and job documents.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
Excellent vision (close-up and long-distance) with the ability to maintain awareness of surroundings (forward, side-to-side, and rear).
Valid Driver's License, satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR required), and reliable transportation.
U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature and location of the work.
Ability to pass a federal background check.
Applicants must pass a pre-job drug screen.
Basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel, Email).

Willingness to learn additional skill sets and advance within the company through ongoing training.
Ability to meet significant physical demands, including lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, working outdoors in inclement weather conditions, and walking long distances on uneven terrain (proper PPE will be provided).
Work Schedule:
Full-time (four 10-hour days).
Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required; commuting to various job sites (Los Alamos, Rio Rancho, potential projects throughout the state, etc.) is required.
Wage:
Based on experience level: $24.00 - $35.00 per hour
