    JOB DESCRIPTION

    As we continue through a period of growth, HedgeServ is searching for innovators who can make an immediate impact on our already successful Business Solutions Group. A Financial Data Analyst will use analytical skills to process and understand data, draw business conclusions, and drive automation decisions. A successful candidate will be able to learn about the financial services and hedge fund industry, as well as the application of technology available within the firm.

    The Business Solutions Group supports process automation, data extraction, and customized solutions across the various business units. Externally, BSG works with clients and data vendors to deliver innovative data solutions, customized reporting requirements, and custom processes. Each member of the team has specialized financial and/or technical knowledge, leading to collaboration and open communication for each project that is taken on.

    The Financial Data Analyst will be responsible for ongoing monthly deliverables as well as special projects. This role includes being a Subject Matter Expert on Vendor Data Services, which includes pricing, reporting, external relationships, and data integrity. The analyst will be able to enact efficient changes at scale by understanding and utilizing all resources provided to them across the varying units of the firm. A successful candidate will have a strong analytical mindset with the ability to consolidate technical and financial knowledge into efficient, streamlined processes and reports.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE

    • Work as a member of the Business Solutions Group by engaging in the different operational processes used by our teams, and our internal development initiatives
    • Synthesize business problems and apply technologies to develop solutions to new problems as they arise, while continually addressing current issues and deliverables
    • Assume responsibility for special projects with a short turnaround time on an as-needed basis, and perform well under independent deadlines
    • Applying an analytical, detail-oriented mindset to problems that span multiple disciplines of business and technology
    • The ability to apply technical and analytical concepts to financial data sets, which includes the development of queries and processes
    • Understanding advantages of various platforms to communicate with and display data
    • Translating complicated problems and processes into streamlined solutions and reports for various internal audiences, including senior management
    • Exposure to business reviews and new Initiatives with external vendors and senior management, including at the C-Suite level
    • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience, 0-2 years experience
    • Knowledge and direct experience using Microsoft Excel in a business or academic setting
    • Ability to decipher relevant insights, plan reporting specifications and communicate relevant details from large amounts of data
    • High attention to detail with an ability to multi-task
    • Must be organized and flexible to work well with frequent priority changes
    • Must be able to self-start and work independently with minimal supervision
    • Ability to find new, creative, and unconventional solutions to problems
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • An interest in or knowledge of financial products, markets, and concepts (either self-taught or formal education)
    • Understanding of Relational Databases is a plus but not required
    • Technical skills are a plus but not required (e.g. SQL, Microsoft VBA, Python)
