Hellas Construction, the leader in Sports Construction is looking for a Regional Vice President to support our Core Operations. Hellas Construction self performs 80% of the work performed. This individual will have overall responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing operations for their Team. Will provide direction and leadership to a group of project managers to ensure jobs get completed on time and within budget.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
OPERATIONAL / BUDGET / FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the Regional Office, including controlling expenditures for regional office projects, up to established limits. Approve or deny direct reports’ budgets upon their submission.
Daily review of job boards, photostreams, and field reports.
Review each job’s financial performance, using functional accounting software (currently, ComputerEase). Timely communicate concerns to Senior Leadership Team.
Conduct Regional Office’s weekly operational meeting.
Examine overall Regional Office performance data, including financial, sales, and activity reports and spreadsheets, to monitor and measure productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness. Communicate Regional Office financial performance data to Accounting.
Daily operating decisions for regional office
Attend Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings with Project Managers and client-owners.
Contact any client-owner that has an issue that has escalated beyond a Project Manager responsibility.
Visit job sites for warranty issues and report back to Corporate headquarters or Surfacing Division for pricing.
STAFF MANAGEMENT
Provide oversight and direction to all employees reporting to the Regional Office.
Responsible for all people related matters to include staffing. Work with Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees.
In collaboration with the General Superintendent, create employee work schedules, including: assignments, job rotation, training, and scheduled leave.
Assign Project Managers. Delegate responsibility for day-to-day management of resources and schedules. Solicit regular feedback on job status, schedules, and issues.
Continuous communication with Project Management staff using a variety of communication medium (e.g., in-person meetings, email, text messages, phone calls).
Coach and develop Project Managers. Conduct regular performance assessments to review productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.
Communicate regularly with COO; CCO; VP, Estimating; VP, Construction; VP, Turf Operations; VP, Design; VP, Organizational Development; Director, Transportation and Assets; BDMs; Surfacing Division Manager; Accounts Payable/Receivable Managers; Operations Administrative Manager; Project Cost Accountant, and other designated contacts within the organization.
Communicate regularly with external contacts to ensure project quality, timeliness, and on-budget completion.
On a monthly basis, or as-needed, prepare reports for the Senior Leadership Team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree is highly desired in Civil Engineering or Construction Management with an emphasis in Civil Engineering. However, applicants may qualify with either a bachelor degree, four years of progressively responsible work experience, or a combination of education and work experience.
Five plus years management experience, preferably in a construction setting. Civil Base work construction experience highly desired.
Possess a certificate of completion for OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training.
Possess a valid driver license and the ability to drive a company pickup truck.
Ability to successfully pass a criminal history background check and/or fingerprinting.
SKILLS
Heavy Knowledge and experience in business, supervision, and management. Detailed knowledge of the functions and operations of the Regional Office.
Ability to be proactive and also to foresee events and react appropriately towards them
Excellent written and verbal communication are a must, including the ability to interface with others, regardless of job title or position within the company, in a positive, approachable, and professional manner. This includes external contacts such as client-owners, vendors , and engineering professionals.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and critical thinking/problem solving skills.
Ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the Senior Leadership team.
Proven ability to make judgment calls and sound, ethical decisions displaying a heightened level of responsibility, confidentiality, integrity and professionalism.
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff members. General knowledge of various employment laws, best management practices, and employee relations.
Demonstrated knowledge of basic economics, budgeting, and accounting principles and best practices.
Exceptional analytical skills, comfortable working with data, and communicating data findings.
Ability to execute both strategic and tactical priorities.
Strong conflict resolution skills and persuasion, leveraging business acumen, expertise, and data to influence business decisions.
Proficient in operating a PC (desktop and/or laptop), which may include the following peripherals: mouse, keyboard, printer, scanner, monitor(s), and external drive/CD-ROM.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to learn other functional software, which may include ComputerEase, mjobtime, Procore, and Rastrac
