Are you seeking a new opportunity with an innovative start-up founded by several of your higher education peers who give sound advice to help students reach their admissions dreams? If the answer is yes, you are likely a strong candidate to be one of our Admissions Officers (AO) at HelloAO, the first on-demand platform for admissions help from recent Ivy+ admissions officers and top college students. OUR MISSION

We are among the world's foremost experts in college admission, and our goal is to empower every student to find their ideal college. We bridge the gap within the average 415:1 student-counselor ratio through technology that enables both interactive access to admissions content as well as flexible 1:1 advising.

    THE ROLE

Admission Officers (AOs) want to use their highly selective admissions experience to help students meet their college or graduate school goals. You will be a leading expert, hosting your own live Q&As and meeting with students and families 1:1 to provide on-demand advice about how to get into their desired college program. Our technology and training will equip you with the tools you need to succeed in your role, and the structure of our content delivery will be predictable and organized. You will also collaborate with other AOs to produce cross-platform content on fresh weekly topics to shape the narrative on college admissions.

    Within 1 Month, You Will:

    • Outline and script up to 4 webinar topics related to your expertise in undergraduate or graduate admissions
    • Begin co-presenting on admissions topics at weekly webinars
    • Co-lead 1:1 meetings with individual students or families

    Within 3 Months, You Will:

    • Develop the ability to present solo on admissions topics at weekly webinars
    • Lead 1:1 meetings with individual students or families
    • Continue to broaden your knowledge of the admissions landscape
    • Build relationships with 1:1 advisees and take on long-term clients through HelloAO
    • Contribute your ideas to improving our product, process, and service

    OUR CULTURE

Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Austin, TX, HelloAO was born from the notion that high-quality college advice should be accessible to all students. Our students have the option to participate in affordable weekly group conversations with experts or purchase high-quality 1:1 advising as desired.

At HelloAO, we encourage curiosity. The nature of student-facing work sometimes means you aren't interacting with colleagues. If you need help or have new insights to share, message a team member or founder at any time. As the college admissions landscape continues to evolve at a rapid pace, we also encourage you to take advantage of the professional development opportunities we will provide.

Lastly, we value autonomy. While we care about results (happy students and compelling presentations), your supervisor will encourage you to develop your own style for your success. Autonomy also means that with the exception of professional standards for student-facing interactions, you can set your own work hours and bring your whole self to work. Feel free to start a hiking club, conduct a book discussion, or stop by our coworking space in Austin for a chat with a founder.

    • 2+ years of experience as a former admissions officer for a nationally-ranked university or liberal arts college, where you reviewed college applications as a member of the staff committee
    • 1+ years of advising students and families on the college application process
    • Superior communication skills including the ability to deliver compelling interactive presentations
    • Desire to work with a diverse range of students and potentially families
