Job Description

Hematology-Oncology Associates of the Treasure Coast (HOATC) is seeking a full-time, EXPERIENCED Prior Authorization Specialist.

The Authorization Specialist is responsible for providing accurate and complete data input for pre-certification requests and for providing excellent customer service. The successful candidate must have the ability to understand the fears and hopes of our patients and their families and be able to listen and communicate effectively.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Proficiency in computer use including but not limited to the internet and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), AdvancedMD and IknowMed
• ICD 10 Coding
• Self-motivated with the ability to work as a team and independently
• Ability to effectively deal with emotionally challenging situations
• Detail oriented
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational and task prioritization skills
• Patient advocacy focused
• Ability to maintain good relationships with patients and co-workers
• Excellent communication skills

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent required, associates preferred
• Must have 3-5 years’ experience obtaining medical authorizations and dealing with various insurance companies and their requirements
• Oncology and Radiology experience highly desirable
• Three to Five years previous experience in a medical office setting (Oncology Preferred)
• Knowledge of medical terminology required
• Knowledge of medical services coding required
