Summary

The Industrial Hygienist will assist EHSS leadership to resolve health issues in the workplace by identifying risks, and by implementing policies and programs to mitigate these. You will conduct training and presentations to ensure employee awareness of occupational health developments, lead biological monitoring programs, effect corrective actions, and halt operations where necessary.

Essential Functions

• Advising and collaborating with management to resolve occupational health issues, ergonomics, proper ventilation, PPE assessments and reducing employee exposure to chemical hazards.

• Creating and executing studies to monitor and assess employees' exposure to health risks, and to measure the effectiveness of occupational health programs, policies, and procedures.

• Overseeing biological monitoring programs.

• Assessing and analyzing research data, summarizing statistics, and compiling reports.

• Proposing and leading the implementation of programs to protect employee health, and implementing ergonomics.

• Conducting regular audits of programs.

• Ensuring employee awareness of occupational health and safety concerns, programs, and regulations by conducting training and presentations.

• Implementing corrective actions and suspending operations if required.

• Advising various parties on workers' compensation claims pertaining to workplace exposures.

• Maintaining current knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation.

Skills

• Ability to utilize various monitoring equipment to collect industrial hygiene samples
• Ability to interpret technical writings such as monitoring methodologies, OSHA regulations, and other support
• Ability to analyze and interpret results and apply problem solving skills to address identified conditions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Responsibilities

• Support site implementation of life safety standards in conjunction with EHSS Team members.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, chemistry or related field.
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification or commitment to obtain certification in 5 years.**

• At least 3 years of work experience in a similar role.
