Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN or health-related bachelor's degree preferred.
- Licensure:
- Current RN license in Kentucky
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, with insurance, for applicable business travel.
- Certification: Current CPR certification according to the American Heart Association standards.
- Experience:
- Minimum 1 year nursing experience; hemodialysis or ICU/CCU experience highly desirable
- Successful completion of training in the theory and practice of hemodialysis.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with hemodialysis equipment and procedures; computer skills advantageous.
- Soft Skills: Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, compassionate patient care approach, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide chronic hemodialysis care and develop comprehensive nursing care plans, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians and other healthcare team members to interpret and adjust patient care plans.
- Conduct patient referrals to dieticians, social workers, or vascular access centers as necessary.
- Evaluate patients’ lab results and address any concerns or questions regarding dialysis treatments.
- Ensure dialysis machines and equipment are maintained in optimal working condition.
- Adhere to the facility's policies and procedures, complying with state and federal regulations.
- Deliver age-specific care, including performing all aspects of the hemodialysis procedure as per state licensure requirements.
- Perform technical skills related to patient treatment and emergency procedures as part of the competency assessment program.
- Document and report all pertinent patient information accurately and clearly.
- Participate in patient and family education, promoting a safe environment for all.
