Job Description

Established mechanical contractor specializing in HVAC construction, installation and maintenance for the NY Tri-State area is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Accountant to our accounting team on a full time basis. The accountant will provide accounting and payroll support for four different divisions and work directly under the Controller of the company.

DESCRIPTION:

• Provide accounting and payroll support to four company entities
• Review and process invoices, ensuring proper job costing, verification and approvals
• Summarize and post data to journals, ledgers and accounts
• Reconcile bank accounts, checks, journal entries and other accounting records
• Receive and match invoices to purchase orders, requisitions and receiving documentation.
• Responsible for checking accuracy, scheduling of payments, processing invoices
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies with vendors, subcontractors
• Responsible for calculating and preparing hourly and salary payroll, deductions and any other garnishments

QUALIFICATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or any other related field
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting and payroll
• Ability to multi-task, work in a fast pace environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Should be well versed in computer usage and software such as Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with Sage software and ADP is a plus
