Successful law firm seeks a current law school student for a Law Clerk position for our downtown St. Louis office. This position requires a highly motivated, organized professional capable of functioning in a fast-paced, challenging legal environment. Please forward cover letter and resume for consideration.
Schedule:
During the summer: flexible schedule, 20-30 hours per week
During the school year: flexible schedule, 10-20 hours per week
Position Summary:
This Law Clerk position is responsible for performing legal research, drafting pleadings or other legal documents, and/or preparing medical summaries as needed for attorneys in the office. They are responsible for following a filing system and organizing records, such as letters, legal documents, case files, invoices and memoranda according to that system. They may be responsible for keeping files up-to-date. In addition to clerical duties, law clerks may also act as a courier to make deliveries and pickups within the downtown St. Louis area.
Essential Job Functions:
· Assisting attorneys with various legal projects.
· Assisting office with maintenance of files and filing system.
· Assisting clerk with closed files – boxing files, maintaining closed file system.
· Assisting attorneys with other tasks as needed.
Qualifications
Education, Skills and Qualifications:
· Current enrollment in an accredited law school.
· Working knowledge of court rules and procedures.
· Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
· Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
· Excellent communication and proofreading skills.
· Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
· Must have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently.
· Organization, Planning, Attention to Detail, and Dependability.
· Firm and Client Confidentiality required.
