    WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC. is seeking a Graduate Engineer to join our team in our St. Cloud, MN office.  Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

    In this role you will perform activities related to the design of storm water management systems, earthwork, piped utilities and other site infrastructure in support of the land group. We are seeking an Engineer who shares our passion for high quality design, loyal to clients and a fast paced work environment. This position will serve as a member of an integrated design team and be responsible for compiling civil design plan sets alongside other disciplines to meet project schedules and budgets. Clear and concise written and verbal communication is imperative. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepare design documents for civil systems (land development, transportation, municipal, drainage, water and sanitary sewer design), including calculations, drawings and civil specifications.
    • Review preliminary and final plans and specifications for constructability and risk management.
    • Coordinate technical activities and designs with personnel in other disciplines and departments within the local office; serve as a liaison between senior engineer and design team.
    • Assist the Project Manager in preparing the conceptual, preliminary and final design and attends meetings with client to coordinate various design activities and is responsible for providing material lists for quotations.

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
    • 0-5 years of experience in discipline within the A&E industry.
    • Engineer-In-Training or on track to obtain the certificate.
    • Ability to apply standard engineering principles and practices.
    • Detailed documentation focus.
    • Sound technical writing skills.
    • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) a must.
    • Civil 3D and AutoCAD drafting experience is a plus

    • Receive assignments and pertinent documentation from Lead.
    • Respond to trouble calls.
    • Visually inspect and listen to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
    • Dismantle machines and equipment to gain access to problem area.
    • Inspect and measure parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
    • Remove and replace worn or defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system.
    • Realign and adjust components.
    • Locate damaged air and hydraulic lines on machine, and measures, cuts, threads, and installs new lines.
    • Start machines and equipment to test operation following repair.
    • Determine extent of damage to machine and take off line or shut down if necessary.
    • Advise management of equipment status.
    • Repair broken parts or initiate orders for material or equipment to effect repairs.
    • May set up and operate metal working tools such as drill press, or grinder, to make or repair parts.
    • Debug and/or modify circuits used in computer controlled motion of CNC machines.
    • Repair or replace personal computer (PC) board.
    • Installs, checks out, and maintain CNC machines and equipment.
    • Check and verify installations prior to release.
    • Confer with manufacturer’s technical and vendor personnel to ascertain pertinent information.
    • Modify sketches of computer generated designs of machine components.
    • Report improper operation, faulty equipment defective material, and unusual conditions to Lead.
    • Requires the use of basic tools and various hand tools as specified by departmental tool list.
    • Perform housekeeping chores as department requirements dictate.
    • Maintain all reports, files, and records.
    • Other duties as assigned by Lead or Supervisor.
