    REPORTS TO: CEO/CFO LOCATION: In Branch - Phoenix, AZ or St. Louis, Mo TRAVEL: 15% COMPENSATION RANGE: $65,000-$85,000 STATUS: Overtime, Exempt

    Heritage is seeking a Controller based in Phoenix, Arizona or St. Louis, Mo and work as a key member of the Finance and Accounting team. In this capacity, the Controller will partner with the CFO, outside accounting firms as well as other senior management and team members across Heritage to provide accounting, forecasting, cost control and finance support as necessary.

    This position will coordinate and administer accounting operations which may include, general finance, general accounting, job cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Provides support to ensure compliance to company policies and procedures, generally accepted accounting standards, and state and federal always and regulations. This position also monitors and evaluates the work of support staff who may perform these related functions.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

    • Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
    • Prepare and post journal entries during month-end closing for multiple entities while adhering to deadlines
    • Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations and analysis
    • Reconcile and eliminate intercompany accounts during the monthly consolidation
    • Reconcile bank statements
    • Responsible for Fixed Asset Tracking and Reconciliation for all entries
    • Prepare internal costing and outcome reports for management
    • Work with the CEO and CFO to improve financial processes
    • Assist with Cash Flow calculations and projections along with wire and ACH payments
    • Provide accounts payable and receivable support as needed
    • Preparing financial statements on time assuring Month End Close.
    • Providing Balance Sheet, P&L statements and other KPI’s as required to assist in day to day operations.
    • Provides financial analysis, with emphasize on capital investments, pricing decisions and contract negotiations.
    • Alerts or warns the senior management team of irregularities, non-compliance, non-adherence, and other financial concerns that relate to the company.
    • Collaborates and coordinates activities with vendors contracted by the Company.
    • Plans, directs and coordinates general ledger maintenance, report preparations.
    • Develops modifies, and reviews accounting systems, reporting methods, and controls.
    • Utilizes sound accounting policies, practices and procedures.
    • Analyzes new laws and regulars for impact on the company and develops systems and procedures to ensure compliance.
    • Coordinates areas including accounting, budgeting and bad debt collection.
    • Supervises the production of management reports financial statements and other statistical reports from various systems.
    • Ensures compliance with all audits and reporting requirements as set by regulatory agencies.
    • All other duties as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS

    • 4-8 years of professional accounting experience
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business accounting, finance, or related field preferred; professional experience may be substituted for formal education
    • CPA preferred
    • Experience with financial analysis and planning, budgeting and forecasting, business contracts, capital structure, tax, audit and related support activities.
    • Experience working cross functionally, both inside and outside of finance, to collaboratively develop budgets/plans and promote financial discipline.
    • A self-starter with exceptional judgement including an ability to execute independently and cross team collaborate with members of all levels, time zones and functions.
    • Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality
    • Familiarity with branch accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures is preferred.
    • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
    • Advanced Excel skills including vlookup, if statements, and pivot tables
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills with a customer focus
    • Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required
    • Able to work under time constraints and ensure deadlines are met
    • Possess exceptional attention to detail and have strong follow-up skills
