  • Responsibilities

    At Hermeus, you will be responsible for system-level design, analysis, integration, and test of high-speed (hypersonic) point-to-point aircraft. A demonstrated ability to lead rapid vehicle design iteration and aerodynamic configuration development is key to this position.

    Responsibilities:

    • Own vehicle configuration - aircraft layout, outer mold line (OML) shape, system integration,  and packaging
    • Lead airplane-level integration studies of early stage designs
    • Optimize packaging and integrated vehicle subsystems
    • Generate, size, and analyze concepts for upcoming vehicles
    • Develop multidisciplinary optimization (MDO) tools to perform rapid preliminary design and analysis
    • Analyze vehicle performance and expand capability of in-house performance tools
    • Generate vehicle level loads and work with mechanical engineers to develop structural layout
    • Support flight and wind tunnel testing 
    • Own stability and control analysis
    • Own vehicle mass properties

     

    Required Skills & Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace engineering or similar focus (Mechanical Engineering)
    • 3+ years of industry experience
    • Demonstrated ability to design and run vehicle level trade studies
    • Understanding of vehicle level systems in order to communicate effectively across all groups
    • Systems engineering experience
    • CAD experience (OnShape)
    • Experience working on aircraft vehicle level analysis

    Preferred Skills & Competencies:

    • Python, C++ experience 
    • Familiarity with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools (PointWise, Cart3D, Fun3D)
    • Strong thermal design experience 
    • Solid understanding of all flight sciences (stability and control, mass properties, performance, aerodynamics)
    • Experience analyzing wind tunnel and flight test data
