  • Responsibilities

    The Easterseals-Goodwill Finance team looking for a Controller to oversee accounting operations in our four-state territory and the 22 retail locations and five different Program service lines that Easterseals-Goodwill offers.

     

    This position is responsible for planning, directing and administering the day-to-day accounting and treasury functions in accordance with the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values. Oversees the organization’s Accounting Department operations, which include accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets and general ledger functions. Manages the monthly financial statement preparation for ESGW and coordination of all financial audits. Works in conjunction with the Payroll department to ensure timely payments to employees and filing of all payroll and 401k reports. Responsible for assessing current accounting operations, and leading the team and organization through process improvement initiatives. Maintains a strong system of internal control to safeguard the organization’s property while adhering to Board policies. Manages the annual budgeting process and monitors company performance against budget. Works cross-functionally with ESGW leadership to determine and meet their reporting and analytic needs. Promotes a culture of integrity, teamwork, and customer service within the department. This position reports to the Assistant VP of Finance. 

    THIS POSITION IS PRIMARILY LOCATED IN GREAT FALLS MONTANA 

    Required Skills

    • Communicates effectively both written and orally with other coworkers and clients.
    • Understand tax laws and other federal and state compliance laws.
    • High-level knowledge of accounting functions and their interaction: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Payroll.
    • Proficient in computer operations. Proficient in Excel.
    • Experience in extracting data from various databases and analyzing data with Microsoft Excel and Access.
    • Knowledge and experience with the budget process including operational, capital, and cash flow budgets.
    • Knowledge of and experience with financial analysis performance indicators, variance analysis, cost analysis, and budget monitoring.

     PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to move independently or with reasonable accommodation within the facility and community.
    • Applicant must be physically and mentally able to perform all requirements of the job.
    • Occasional overnight travel and weekend work required.
    • Applicant must pass a background check

    Required Experience

    • 5+ years
    • General non-profit accounting experience preferred.
    • CPA preferred.
    • Experience in managing project timelines and internal/external resources.
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
