    Refugee Resettlement Spring Intern Department: U.S. Programs Location: New York, NY The Refugee Resettlement Intern assists HIAS New York staff with outreach, case management, employment, and other resettlement services for refugees and other eligible migrants served through programs funded by the State Departments Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM)), Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), and the State of New Yorks Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA). This part-time position is unpaid but may be pursued for academic credit. A semester or quarter commitment is required. Essential Functions: * Undergoes training with HIAS NY staff. * Assists with development of outreach and resource materials for all HIAS programs. * Assists with preparation of pre-case documentation (AORs and RIFs) with U.S. ties/anchor relatives to initiate refugee applications. * Accompanies refugees to health screening and other appointments, as deemed appropriate by HIAS staff. * Assists with case file preparation, compiling required file documentation and case notes as assigned. * Researches services, providers and programs to complement HIAS NY services and benefit our clients. * Assists with employment preparation and job placement services under the Matching Grant program; provides administrative support to Matching Grant staff. * Supports HIAS NY staff as they provide services under the Targeted Assistance Grant (TAG) workforce development program, New York State Enhanced Services for Refugees Program (NYSESRP), and Refugee Health Promotion (RHP) program. * Provides English-Russian interpretation and translation of documentation for Russian speaking clients in the office and at other service appointments. * Provides office and administrative support to HIAS New York staff as needed. * Brings commitment and integrity to accomplishing HIAS mission and goals in this and other duties as assigned and commit to personal and professional implementation of HIAS Core values. Qualifications and Requirements: * Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. * Fluency in Russian or Farsi required. * Excellent technical, organizational and communication skills. * Strong commitment to serve vulnerable individuals. * Ability to work with diverse populations.
