Tax Manager – Single Family Office

The family currently outsources all tax compliance and planning and is seeking a hands-on leader to internalize the process and build a scalable structure.

The role will focus heavily on complex trust return preparation and oversight, along with tax compliance for 20+ closely held entities. This position reports directly to the CFO and will also support certain accounting activities across the family’s entities. The accounting side can be trained, but direct trust tax experience is needed. This is a high visibility role within a private, long-term-oriented environment within a small team environment. This is a very hands on role.

Responsibilities

• Transition outsourced tax compliance work from external CPA firm to in house
• Prepare and review complex fiduciary and trust tax returns
• Manage tax compliance for 20+ related entities, including partnerships and pass through structures
• Oversee quarterly estimates, extensions, and annual filings
• Coordinate with external advisors, legal counsel, and the CFO
• Maintain tax calendars and ensure timely compliance across all entities
• Support accounting activities for certain entities, including journal entries, financial review, and coordination of financial statements
• Develop documentation, processes, and internal controls as the in house function is formalized
• Assist with tax planning initiatives in coordination with leadership

Qualifications

• CPA strongly preferred
• Direct experience preparing trust returns is needed
• Experience with partnership and pass through taxation
• Strong technical knowledge of fiduciary and individual tax compliance
• Comfortable operating in a confidential, relationship driven family office environment
• Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines
