Higher Heights for America, a 501(c)4 organization, and its sister organization Higher Heights Leadership Fund, a 501(c)3, are rapidly growing and expanding their leadership team.
Higher Heights seeks a Communications Associate who will be responsible for assisting in executing media strategies and the administrative needs of the Communications Department.
The position requires a candidate to be highly collaborative, to function with a high level of autonomy, and to work on multiple projects at once as well as time-sensitive deadlines.
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Responsible for assisting with posting daily social media content across all of Higher Heights platforms;
- Provide administrative support to the President/ CEO, such as interview scheduling, drafting correspondence, talking points, and other administrative duties;
- Assist in the implementation of the Communications Department media strategy;
- Manage administrative tasks for the Communications Department including coordinating communications meeting logistics and agendas;
- Serve as the initial point of contact for press inquiries where necessary and provide support for media outreach efforts;
- Coordinate and oversee media monitoring for clips/news about the organization critical political figures, and Black women’s issues/politics;
- Assist in the drafting of press releases, advisories, and statements;
- Assist in coordinating press for Higher Heights events;
- Assist in logistical execution of Higher Heights press calls and events, handle RSVP lists, check-in, other duties as needed;
- Maintain lists of media contacts;
- Maintain files, graphics, and other resources of materials for the Communications
- Department’s needs;
- Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- We’re looking for candidates who have a passion for communications and social media who wants to help harness Black women’s collective political power to elect Black women, influence elections, and advance progressive policies.
- The Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 1-4 years of experience in media relations, digital communications.
- Strong writing and communication skills;
- Ability to multi-task and operate under pressure;
- Ability to prioritize competing projects, multi-task, and manage effective and efficient teams who are based in various office locations or working remotely.
- Some travel may be required, when travel resumes.

Compensation
Higher Heights offers a competitive salary and a strong benefits package. This is a full-time position. This role can work remotely with travel to the office, in Brooklyn, NY.
