    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Summary/ObjectivesWe are looking for a full-time real estate accountant to join our expanding real estate team! Our real estate accountant manages all accounting processes for the real estate division. You will handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, produce journal entries, reconcile business accounts, and enter data into accounting software to make sure financial reporting is accurate and organized. This person will also handle incoming and outgoing payments, collect bills, prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements.

Assist the Controller in monitoring and ensuring compliance with appropriate accounting methods, policies, and principles.Create detailed journal entries and post them to the general ledger (GL) to track all income statements and expensesHandle all accounts payable and receivable on a daily basis to make sure each invoice and expense report is accurate Reconcile all business accounts to ensure our records match up and no transaction gets lostEnter financial data into computer software, making sure all bills and invoices are filed correctlyPrepare for period and quarterly reporting using standard best practicesWorks closely with the property management teamCompetenciesUnderstands basic accounting principlesExcellent communication skills - both verbal & writtenThoroughness and attention to detailsEthical conductTeamwork & Collaboration skillsFlexibility and Willingness to learn Technologically savvy

    Supervisory ResponsibilityThe Accounting Generalist has no direct supervisory responsibilities

    Work environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    Physical demands This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

    Position type and expected hours of work This is a full time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed.

    Travel No travel is expected for this position.

    Required education and experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent equivalent years of experience in Finance, credit, or Accounting.Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math.

    Preferred education and experienceBachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.Two years of related experience.Familiarity with software programs used in this job preferred (i.e. Excel, MRI)
