We are seeking a Design Department Leader to oversee our in-house architectural design department and lead our design team. Design Department Leader- Job Duties

As the Design Department Leader, you will oversee the design department and work directly with customers to create unique design work.

• Manage the architectural design department’s day-to-day design operations; communicate and collaborate with members of the design and production teams to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
• Produce high quality designs consistent with client scope, budget and project limitations.
• Responsible for the development and documentation of project designs, specifications and selections in accordance with our client’s objectives and budget.
• Plan design-build schedule and budget for each phase of project and provide plans, specifications and all required documentation to price, permit and build assigned projects.
• Grow design department by hiring, training and supervising new designers.
• Collaborate with in house and vendor and supplier resources to develop plans consistent with client desires and budget.
• Develop and document design department policies and procedures and standards.
• Manage the financial side of project design, so that design work billing is accurately projected on PCA’s and DBA’s.
• Actively participate as a member of the leadership team.

A successful Design Department Leader is someone with a passion for architectural design and quality. You are consistently producing quality designs that meet planning, zoning and building code requirements and that can be clearly understood and implemented by the production team. You have a proven track record of creating beautiful, functional spaces in San Francisco’s wonderfully quirky houses. Additionally, you are working closely with the production team to monitor and manage the project budget and customer service touches.

Design Department Leader- Required

• Experience leading remodel of residential design efforts in the design/build industry in San Francisco.
• Thorough knowledge of California Building Code, San Francisco Planning, Zoning and Building codes for residential projects, and the permitting process.
• Ability to prepare a set of permit /construction drawings for residential projects in the city of San Francisco.
• Ability to utilize architectural drafting software, preferably AutoCAD or Chief Architect
• Ability to generate 3D renderings and drawings.
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record

 Design Department Leader- Nice to Have (Not Required)

• California Architect License
• Experience growing and leading design teams
