    This is a newly created role as a result of rapid growth and expansion.

    Sales & Tax Use Specialist – Your Job Duties

    You will be responsible for the entire sales & use tax process at every stage, for over 10 states, certain localities and Canadian Federal provinces, including:

    • Prepare multistate sales tax returns (including sales & use, business & occupation, gross receipts, property) with the proper backup supporting the reported exempt sale
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly sales tax returns
    • Partner with the estimating, operations and accounting departments to conduct sales tax research regarding the eligibility of sales tax rates, qualified manufacturing exemptions, rebates, credits, certificates, etc.
    • Review all exemption certificates for compliance with state regulations
    • File all required registrations & permits in various jurisdictions
    • Perform audit to review, investigate and correct any potential taxpayer reporting errors
    • Maintain a thorough understanding of sales tax laws, knowledge of what types of exempt documentation is acceptable, and compliance to procedures established
    • Completion of tax checklists
    • Assistance in sales tax audits and preparation of tax adjustments

    What Does Success Look Like for You as Our Sales & Tax Use Specialist?

    A successful Tax Specialist in this role has a comprehensive understanding of all of the many state tax filings and ownership over all steps in the process, from initial tax assumption through procurement, research and filing the sales tax returns.  

    Sales & Tax Use Specialist – Required Skills, Experience & Character

    • Prior experience and knowledge in a sales tax role / prior exposure to preparing sales tax returns
    • Strong organization skills and ability to track deadlines and regulatory requirements for sales tax in many states

    Sales & Tax Use Specialist - Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior experience working with a state agency (ie: Board of Equalization)
    • Prior experience working with construction, solar, operations & maintenance or construction company in a taxation role
    • Prior experience with a company in procurement or consumer packaged goods in a sales tax role
    • Experience with CMIC accounting software
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, taxation or related
