    Our Client is seeking a Mechanical Outsourcing Manager to fill the role of Outsource Mechanical Manager within the Mechanical Development Engineering group. The role will require management and technical leadership of up to 15 outsource suppliers with up to 200 to 250 engineers total working on the concept, analysis, development, and delivery of intricate Hi-Tech, complex components, and systems.

    LOCATION: CONNECTICUT AREA. (FULL RELOCATION ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED)

    NOTE: THE POSITION IS IN THE CONNECTICUT FACILITY, 1-HOUR FROM NEW YORK, NY.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    We are looking for someone with a strong technical background to be able to assume the leadership responsibilities while being a hands-on member providing support. This is a very technical group where a complex engineering background and analytic thought are as important as inspiring leadership and supplier management skills.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    • You will facilitate the management of outsourced mechanical development activities with project teams and codevelopers, develop outsourced engineering capabilities, ensure quality document agreements and requirements, and drive teams to adhere to formalized contracts, Project Generation Process.
    • You will work with Project Leaders, Project Teams, Group Leaders, Codevelopers, and others as needed, to support projects in managing demands, making forecasts, plan allocation of resources.
    • You will manage codevelopers to develop and implement policies and practices, create short- and long-term plans, and contribute to the overall Mechanical Development goals, capabilities, and strategies.
    • You will support research and development outsourcing of engineering services, including contracts and specifications of research and development activities, for project deliverables from conceptual through final design, simulation and analysis, reviews, validation and testing, documented release, and change management.
    • You will work with multiple engineering projects and co-developers to ensure timely realization of high quality, competitive, serviceable products for the semiconductor industry.
    • You will manage in line with corporate guidelines, (business) plans and strategy, to ensure the realization of (strategic) objectives of the assigned unit.
    • You will lead continuous improvement initiatives to further improve the quality and efficiency of codevelopers' contributions to DE projects.
    • You will seek and qualify new outsource suppliers where necessary together with procurement.
    • You will lead codeveloper performance evaluations and continuous improvement efforts.
    • You will manage codevelopers' onboarding and training and user accounts and IT hardware administration.
    • You will be accountable for codeveloper performance (schedule, technical, and financial).

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

    • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Advances Degree in Mechanical Engineering highly desired.
    • Minimum 10 years with the management of outsourced mechanical development activities with project teams and codevelopers.
    • Minimum 10 years of Mechanical Engineering experience in a design and analysis intensive environment.
    • Minimum of 10 years of Project Management experience.
    • Minimum of 10 years managing codevelopers to develop and implement policies and practices, create short- and long-term plans, and contribute to the overall Mechanical Development goals, capabilities, and strategies.
    • Minimum of 10 years working with Project Leaders, Project Teams, Group Leaders, Codevelopers, and others, to support projects in managing demands, making forecasts, plan allocation of resources.
    • Minimum of 10 years supporting research and development outsourcing of engineering services, including contracts and specifications of research and development activities, for project deliverables from conceptual through final design, simulation and analysis, reviews, validation and testing, documented release, and change management.
    • Minimum of 10 years leading continuous improvement initiatives to further improve quality and efficiency.
    • Minimum of 10 years in a technical leadership role.
    • Minimum of 10 years of outsourcing large and small engineering development projects with multiple codevelopers.
    • Minimum of 10 years overseeing the management of outsourced mechanical development activities with project teams and codevelopers and develop outsourced engineering capabilities.
    • Managerial and technical leadership of up to 15 outsource suppliers with up to 200 to 250 engineers total working on the concept, analysis, development, and delivery of intricate components.
    • Experience within the semiconductor industry, precision engineering field, Complex Medical Devices, and/or Complex Optical/Optics Machinery and Systems.
    • R&D/Research and Development exposure to multi-disciplinary projects, such as robotics, mechatronics, or optical systems.
    • Be willing to own the performance of the integrated system and support the entire product life cycle (development through sustaining engineering).
    • Possess strong leadership and ownership characteristics with the demonstrated commitment to achieving results on time.
