    Data Analyst/Developer

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The Data Warehouse Developer will develop, test, analyze, and maintain the data warehouse processes and related infrastructure. This individual will assist in the day to day operations of the Netezza data warehouse. The developer will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the software development life cycle. The successful candidate will work closely with the Data Integrity team to support domestic and global initiatives. This is a mid-level position.

     

    Strategy & Planning

    ·         Full life cycle experience (requirements gathering through production deployment) in all aspects of Data Warehousing (ETL, data modeling, and analytics).

    ·         Seek out and apply new technologies and skills for DW improvement in daily work through

    conferences, online training, reading, participation in organizations and user groups, etc.

    ·         Translate business needs into technical and system design specifications.

    ·         Prepare and maintain system documentation.

     

    Execution & Deployment

    ·         Design and develop or modify ETL processes that load data for the data warehouse using T-SQL/Bash scripting.

    ·         Maintain existing ETL jobs, SQL scripts, and Linux scripts.

    ·         Provide ETL performance tuning.

    ·         Troubleshoot and resolve production issues under tight deadlines.

    ·         Assist with the creation of reusable components as they relate to the ETL framework.

    ·         Assist in DW support activities, issue tracking, escalation and resolution.

    ·         Execute project plans to successfully meet objectives.

    ·         Assist with projects as may be required to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.

     

    Formal Education:

    ·         Bachelor degree or foreign equivalent in a related field or equivalent experience.

     

    Knowledge & Experience

    ·         2+ years of IT experience.

    ·         Hands-on knowledge of SQL (specifically, but not limited to, Oracle SQL, PostgreSQL, PL/SQL).

    ·         Hands-on knowledge of scripting and programming in a Linux/Unix/Solaris environment

    (including, but not limited to, bash shell, perl, Python).

    ·         Knowledge of data manipulation skills and experience with data warehouse ETL processes.

    ·         General understanding of common database technologies including performance, tuning, and optimization.

    ·         General understanding of Business Intelligence Tools (Business Objects, OBIEE, or

    MicroStrategy).
