Job Description

We believe databases can be automated just like any other code. We do this using SaltStack, CloudFormation, and Terraform currently. You'll be responsible for performance tuning, backup and restore procedures, collaborating with developers on schema changes, and general maintenance of our database systems. Our current storage stack consists of PostgreSQL, S3, OpenSearch, DynamoDB, MYSQL, and MSSQL. Most of our infrastructure is on AWS so it is a huge plus if you know and love AWS. We want someone who will focus on ensuring our database operations are stable, secure, and automated.

You'll work closely with developers across teams to help validate schema changes and advise on changes to database systems. We are growing our DBA team out and are looking for people who want to be part of a new team and help guide the direction and growth of the team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Managing various databases such as PostgreSQL, MSSQL, DynamoDB, and OpenSearch.
• Performance tuning of databases.
• Some after hours work for database patching and updates.
• Monitoring the health of systems.
• Testing backup and restore procedures.
• Collaborating with developers on schema changes.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Ideal Experience

● 1+ years working with databases, preferably relational databases.
● Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide visibility into important processes and updates across a variety
of teams, departments, and levels of the organization.
● Experience with AWS.
● Proven track record of automating manual tasks.
