Bestica is seeking a Histotechnologist (CT) to provide services to U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs located at White River Junction Medical Center, VT 05001.

Scope : The Office of Veteran Affairs Medical Center at White River Junction (VA WRJ) currently has a shortage of Medical Technologists, Medical Technicians (Phlebotomists) and Histotechnologists. The Contractor shall furnish all key personnel to provide services necessary to perform onsite Laboratory testing and phlebotomy to eligible beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs, the range of Laboratory Services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of the quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized national standards as established by Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines.

Shift and working hours : Rotational shifts

Mandatory Requirements :

• Candidate must hold a bachelors degree and have three (3) years of recent Histology and Cytology experience.
• Responsible for grossing tissue specimens, accessioning them into the computer system, embedding, cutting, staining and cover-slipping tissue. Also prepares special stains for tissue per request of pathologists.
• Assists the pathologists in the cutting of surgical, frozen sections, and possibly autopsies. Processes specimens using equipment, instruments, or techniques to prepare them for specific analysis, controls physical conditions, responds to time factors to ensure that the physiological state-of-the art specimen is maintained.
• May serve as the back-up morgue assistant in the absence of the contract diener.
• This includes basic assistance of the pathologist during autopsies to include, but not limited to, identification, set up, general assistance, body closure, and clean up.
