    Job Description

    Reporting into the HR Manager, you will play a big part in the day to day of the operations team. Supporting employees, managers and the HR team, everyday will be different and provide a new challenge. You will be responsible to coordinate and deploy strategic projects and initiatives.

    Day in the life:

    A typical Monday starts with a quick touchpoint with the plant management team to go over the plan for the week, address any employee relations issue and review our workforce planning needs. An employee might come in unannounced with a question on benefits or their latest paystub. Then, a quick tour in the plant to congratulate an employee on their work anniversary and check in on the new recruit that started in the morning. You’ll finish your tour stopping by the supervisor’s office to help him and answer his questions on our new HR information system. The day will end with updating our employee handbook with our latest policy on attendance.

    Employee Relations & Performance Management

    • Ensure Employee Relations programs are in place, active, and people are engaged.
    • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
    • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
    • Have an approachable personality and follow an “Open Door” policy where employees feel comfortable bringing forward concerns and suggestions.
    • Ensure completion of 90-day reviews and assist with the facilitation of year-end performance reviews.

    HRIS, Onboarding & Administrative Duties

    • Plan and coordinate the integration/onboarding of new employees (equipment, reception, orientation, tours, etc.)
    • Ensure HRIS and all employee records and files are kept up to date and in compliance with all HR laws and company procedures.
    • Have strong skills working within HR systems: UKG, Microsoft Dynamics AX, and Microsoft operating systems.

    • Assist with the maintenance of OSHA, DOT and compliance related HR files.
    • Run and reports from multiple data sources.
    • Understanding of pay policies and shift differentials and ensuring accuracy of information within HRIS system.
    • Assist with recruiting on an as needed basis to include posting roles, conducting phone screens, scheduling interviews and extending offers.

    Employee Engagement & Communication

    • Keep business leadership aware of all employee concerns or issues while driving resolutions when issues arise.
    • Fully communicate and demonstrate the Company's Vision, Mission & Values.
    • Participate in the coordination of employee recognition events (BBQs, holiday parties, etc.)
    • Promote the Techo-Bloc brand through employee outreach and various initiatives; social media and communication boards.

    Policies & Procedure Administration

    • Communicate company policies and procedures to employees and managers.
    • Assist in updating and maintaining policies.
    • Work with Operations, Trucking & Sales teams to ensure employee documentation processes are being followed in accordance with company polices and US laws.
    • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

    Benefits Administration

    • Administer all employee benefit plans (Medical, Dental, Vision, HSA, 401k, etc.) to employees within your area of responsibility.
    • Assist employees with enrolling in all benefit plans during Open Enrollment, New Hire enrollment and Qualified Life event changes.
    • Host annual open enrollment meetings for all employees within your area of responsibility.
    • Assist employees with questions throughout the year regarding all benefit plans.
    • Manage leaves for FMLA, personal leave and disability.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
    • 4+ years human resources generalist experience.
    • In depth knowledge of Employment laws and all legislative requirements
    • Experience in a manufacturing environment an asset
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build relationships and influence
    • Energetic and positive personality

    • Proven ability to prioritize multiple functions and manage time efficiently.
    • Must be a “roll up your sleeves” type who is focused on implementation and achieving results.
    • Proficiency with HCM systems.
