    IT Systems Analyst

    The IT Systems Analyst position will work as part of a Regional IT Team collaborating with trading, operations and technology partners to identify, develop and implement world-class technical solutions for a global merchandiser and processor of agricultural goods. This specific role utilizes a technical skillset and hands-on abilities in order to bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions.

    This role will work within a project structure, collaborating closely with other IT project team members as well as business teams. The Systems Analyst should work well as a partner with IT Business Analysts and other resources to define creative, reliable, and above all usable solutions which can achieve business objectives through the application of available technologies. The Systems Analyst role will often participate in all phases of the project lifecycle, from supporting planning and requirements activities, participating in project implementation, managing technical test as needed, and supporting the business and technical solution via hypercare following project go-live. Additionally, an IT Systems Analyst may be called upon to consult and collaborate on more ad hoc requests, as needed to support overall business continuity.

    IT Systems Analyst will have the opportunity to participate in leading-edge technology research and deployments, focusing on Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and related real-time system integrations, data visualization capabilities, and operational improvements.

    Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

    • Partners with IT business analysts and business unit personnel at multiple locations to understand business needs and functional requirements and define system or technical requirements in support of functional requirements.
    • Develop, analyze, and organize technical specifications, data mapping, diagrams, and application flowcharts in collaboration with IT Business Analysts and other team members in support of assigned project delivery.
    • Performs technical analysis tasks focusing on system design and functionality, including elements of data analysis and system integration.
    • Works within a project team to implement system deployments and enhancements, covering a range of IT system, IT infrastructure, and hardware technologies.
    • Manages problem-solving on technical, systems, and data issues in support of project delivery, performance improvement, and system failure resolution.
    • Creates and manages documentation supporting technical aspects and implementation of systems and relevant supporting infrastructure and hardware.
    • Research and explore new technologies or new approaches to implement existing technologies in support of business needs.
    • Create and manage technical testing plans, including execution of test scripts in support of project implementation when needed.
    • Translate highly technical specifications into clear non-technical requirements for use in project delivery
    • Works to understand the company’s business operations, in order to best determine how available technical solutions can be adapted to best meet business needs.
    • Provide project support through data extraction and analysis in support of project goals.

    Basic qualifications:

    • 3 (plus) years of strong technical experience in business operations, financial or trading systems and a successful history of project contribution
    • Experience analyzing, implementing and supporting enterprise reporting architectures and related technologies
    • Experience in participating in cross-functional project teams environment; ability to perform in various roles from individual contributor to a leadership role; ability to contribute to success of project teams using a variety of structured delivery methodologies
    • Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other business organizations; successful experience in working with diverse groups of people in a problem-solving environment

    Preferred qualification:

    • Experience with functional and technical aspects of major enterprise business systems and related technologies.
    • 3 (plus) years work experience in a Systems Analyst (or similar) role

    Basic qualifications:

    • Working knowledge of relevant technology concepts including: client-server, relational databases, web-based architectures, reporting, querying software and techniques
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of data extraction and analysis tools and techniques, including use of MSSQL database query and management tools, and/or similar technologies.
    • Thorough understanding of planning, analysis and testing techniques required to support such systems
    • Knowledge/ experience in functional business areas, such as finance, accounting, information technology and trading operations
    • Ability to act in a consultative role to understand functional business needs, related information technology requirements, and to develop technical solutions and delivery proposals
    • Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and priorities
    • History of applying varied approaches to solve complex business support challenges of significance to the organization
    • Advanced knowledge of standard business tools such as MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skill

    Decision Making/Accountability

    • Analyzes back-office business systems and integration processes; devises/conducts gap analysis surveys and documents operational specifications requirements; translates business process into computer system requirements; reviews systems and makes recommendations for customization based on knowledge of relevant business processes; applies thorough understanding of the software development life cycle; responsible for efficient implementations of system enhancements that meet user requirements and project deadlines; recommends procedural changes to operational personnel and management as deemed necessary.
