Job Description

As a Principle Character Artist on an Unannounced Incubation Project, you will bring iconic characters to life from prototype through production for a completely new world at HoYoverse to help the team explore fundamental art style choices, and provide a foundation for expressive character animation

• Translate concept art into character models to the highest quality while maintaining practical simplicity and charm.
• Work closely with the Art Director to align on visual goals and quality.
• Work closely with the Tech Art team to maintain guidelines for model deliveries that allow for effective deformation and expression, as well as optimization.
• Offer constructive feedback during art team content reviews.
• Collaborate with other art and design disciplines to help guide the Character Art team through pre-production visual development tests and ideation, as well as production execution.

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of anatomy, form, and character appealing.
• Expert working knowledge of programs such as Maya, ZBrush, Mudbox, Photoshop.
• Outstanding ability to problem-solve and drive creative solutions despite ambiguity.
• Embrace “miHoYo” culture in addition to being an outstanding collaborator and communicator
• Experienced in stylized (similar to Anime Style or Pixar Style) character making

NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS

• Experience with mesh optimization and finding creative solutions to retain artistic quality while supporting hardware restrictions.
• Experience creating and/or reviewing facial blendshapes.
