  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    This is a 1st shift position. This position will be responsible for performing production needs as well as the weld tests needed for monitoring porosity, performing tests required for tested orders, and performing the weld tests required for agency approvals. The welding portion of the position will be based on business needs and could fluctuate drastically from week to week. This position will need to fulfill the production requirements which will be primarily running packaging equipment as well as any other equipment that the employee is proficient at.

    ** Functions**

    • Perform the weld test and x-ray for each lot of raw material and records the results in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Perform the weld test for tested orders and fill out the associated documentation.
    • Overhead multi-pass test for MIG tests.
    • Bead on plate test for TIG tests.
    • Perform the weld tests for agency approvals.
    • Perform weld tests for returned product.
    • Perform any other weld tests required for R&D, process verifications, etc.
    • Must be able to explain what they see while welding and express how different products perform in a clear, meaningful fashion.
    • Must be adaptable and able to weld by following welding procedure requirements.
    • Prepare base metal using industrial bandsaws, and belt or angle grinders as needed.
    • Prepare x-ray test plates with a mill.
    • Maintain a safe, clean, well-organized workspace and perform housekeeping duties as necessary.
    • Must be willing to always wear all necessary PPE (glasses, face-shield, welding jackets, gloves, safety boots/shoes, hearing protection, and weld fume masks/filters).
    • Assist with keeping the weld school crate stocked.

    Qualifications

    • Obtained a high school diploma or GED.
    • Flexible, open-minded team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving capabilities to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and team environments.
    • Possess familiarity with MS Office and Microsoft windows.
    • Detailed oriented person keeping errors to a minimum.
    • Flexible approach to work which varies greatly from day to day.
    • Ability to read, understand, and follow written practices.
