THIS POSITION REQUIRES EXPERIENCE AS AN ATTORNEY WORKING IN RENEWABLE ENERGY
Our client company is a global provider of technology solutions and services for Electric Vehicle (EV) Networks and Grid Management.
Due to their deep financial pockets and their business skyrocketing, they are increasing their headcount significantly this year.
Their intelligent charging infrastructure allows municipalities, utilities, automotive and other businesses to seamlessly own and operate their EV charging networks and integrated with renewable energy resources. They are a key participant in a national-wide initiative to reduce vehicle emissions.

JOB SUMMARY
The General Counsel will report to the CEO and be a trusted advisor on the executive team. You will lead the legal strategy for the company and will have 3 direct reports and use outside counsel. Job scope includes, but not limited to:
Providing guidance and action as needed on intellectual property, M&A and contract agreements.
Keeping company in compliance with local, state and federal laws. Must be able to interpret and explain legal requirements to ensure compliance for a variety of topics including regulation, safety, data protection, and privacy.
Providing consistency across all agreements. Draft and negotiate a wide variety of agreements, including purchase agreements, software licenses, partnership agreements, and other commercial agreements
Providing guidance on a wide variety of commercial transactions
Providing legal analyses of applicable laws, regulations and industry guidance that impact product development, operations, and commercial agreements, and assist in the design and implementation of appropriate policies to ensure compliance
Providing legal counsel throughout our international expansion and for international business activities
Interpreting and explaining legal requirements to ensure compliance for a variety of topics including regulation, safety, data protection, and privacy
Collaborating cross-functionally to create and revise contracts and agreements ensuring consistency with internal corporate policies and procedures
Defining and building the Legal Department
Establishing and managing relationships with external legal counsel to address business needs assuring cost efficiency and effectiveness.
REQUIREMENTS
10+ years’ experience as an attorney working in renewable energy
Experience in intellectual property, M&A and contracts
Exceptional analytical skills, experience providing legal analyses of applicable laws, regulations and industry guidance that impact product development, operations and commercial agreements, and assisting in the design and implementation of appropriate policies to ensure compliance
Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and commercial legal advice and recommendations, negotiation of complex commercial transactions
Combination of in-house and law firm experience (preferred)
Experience helping a company through rapid domestic and international growth
Experience in both startups and bigger companies [public or private] (preferred)
Exceptional interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships across the organization
Exceptional judgment, discretion, and discernment
Excellent ability to manage competing priorities
Innate curiosity, desire and ability to learn rapidly, resiliency and comfort serving as a trusted business partner
Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
