    TITLE OF JOB: Plumber

    SUMMARY:

    The plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing used for water distribution and waste water disposal in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    · The Plumber must have be at least a 3rd year apprentice in Plumbing from recognized and accredited post-secondary institution. (St. Louis City and County License)

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Review building plans and specifications to determine the layout for plumbing and related materials
    • Identify required tools and special equipment
    • Select the type and size of pipe required
    • Locate and mark positions for connections and fixtures
    • Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment
    • Assemble and install valves and fittings
    • Install, repair and maintain water treatment equipment, piping and controls
    • Install, repair and maintain underground storm sanitary and water piping systems
    • Install, repair and maintain sinks, tubs and toilets
    • Install, repair and maintain water heaters and conditioners
    • Install, repair and maintain plumbing fixtures, appliances and trim
    • Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks
    • Perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures
    • Apply all codes to installations, repairs and maintenance
    • Ensure all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures are met
    • Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and graded
    • Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet the requirements of the appropriate codes
    • Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements 
    • Ability to communicate with customers in a clear, confident manner throughout the entire service so that they are aware what is going on inside their home/business
    • Ability to adjust your communications to provide the best customer experience possible
    • Ability to create detailed job notes in the customer’s account for future reference
    • Ability to both teach and learn by sharing thoughts/experiences with your coworkers in meetings and in one to one interactions
    • Willingness to try new ideas and recommend process improvements to your manager with the objective of improving efficiency/effectiveness
    • Frequent communication with dispatchers so that they know the status of each job for scheduling purposes
    • The ability to maintain a clean and organized work space both in a customer’s property and your company vehicle
    • The ability to work safely and the motivation to help ensure that those you work with are working in a safe manner
