    Holiday Inn Alexandria @ Carlyle is seeking a Maintenance worker to perform assigned maintenance duties related to the exterior and interior facilities and ensure high level of guest service and guest satisfaction as related to maintenance. This person is expected to follow departmental policies and procedures as established by hotel, company, and / or brand standards.

    JOB TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Perform preventive maintenance tasks / assignments as instructed.
    • Respond to guest requests during shift regarding maintenance issues with guest room and / or public meeting space – including electrical, plumbing, HVAC issues.
    • Complete assigned work orders within allotted time frame with quality results.
    • Communicate with other departments regarding out-of-order rooms, status of work orders, scheduled maintenance projects, etc..
    • Maintain security of master key(s) and the approved sign-out procedure for master keys.
    • May work with outside contractors on various services / projects.
    • May assist Chief Engineer in the training and development of new department employees.
    • Comply with federal, state, and local laws to guarantee safety of guests and employees; know / observe safety precautions and emergency action plans and related equipment and report discrepancies in policy to Chief Engineer.
    • May monitor boiler / chiller readings according to law or set standards.
    • May be responsible for pool maintenance and related pool equipment.
    • Be constantly alert of any security and/or safety issues and notify supervisor of any perceived security and/or safety threats.
    • Maintain an organized and clean work area; always practice and ensure a safe work environment.
    • Exhibit teamwork and cooperation by performing other duties as needed, required, asked, or directed.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES/ OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • Requires effective and professional verbal and written communication skills with guests, vendors, contractors, and other hotel staff.
    • Technical knowledge including refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, HVAC / PTAC units, boilers / chillers, carpentry, painting, dry wall repair, tile / flooring repair and other mechanical and maintenance skills.
    • Requires availability on weekends and / or holidays, possible overtime, and possibly alternating shift work.
    • Basic to intermediate computer skills.

    JOB ENVIRONMENT:

    1. Primarily indoors or within hotel facilities; some exposure to outside elements.
    2. Requires significant walking and standing for entire shift
    3. Some light to heavy lifting required – 50+ pounds
    4. Frequent reaching, climbing, bending, stretching, stooping, squatting, kneeling, climbing.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer 2+ years of experience in a position of comparable responsibility.
