Your Role as a Home Health OT

As a Home Health OT, you’ll provide essential therapy to patients recovering from illness, injury, or disability right in their own homes. Your work will empower patients to achieve greater independence, regain vital skills, and enhance their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess functional abilities and needs of patients in their home environment.
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans to support patients’ independence in daily living and work-related tasks.
• Help patients improve coordination, strength, and physical capabilities through therapy.
• Provide support to patients dealing with emotional and mental health challenges, such as dementia or depression.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on how to carry out therapeutic interventions at home.
• Track and document progress to ensure treatment goals are met and adjustments are made as needed.

What You’ll Need

• Education: Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Licensure: Active OT licensure in the state of practice.
• Skills: Strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to patient-centered care.
• Independence: Ability to manage your time and work independently during home visits.
• Transportation: Reliable transportation and a willingness to travel to patient homes for visits.
