Homeschool Teacher / Tutor (5th & 2nd Grade)
Schedule: Monday–Wednesday Hours: 3 hours per day (9 hours per week) Pay: $20 per hour Subjects: Math, Reading, Writing Location: In-person (homeschool setting)
Position Overview
We are seeking a patient, organized, and engaging homeschool teacher/tutor to support two children (5th grade and 2nd grade) in Math, Reading, and Writing. This role focuses on reinforcing grade-level concepts, building strong academic foundations, and supporting independent learning in a structured but positive environment.
The ideal candidate is confident differentiating instruction for two age groups, communicates clearly, and brings consistency and encouragement to learning.
Responsibilities
Provide small-group instruction for a 5th grader and 2nd grader
Teach and reinforce Math, Reading, and Writing skills appropriate to each grade level
Adapt lessons to meet different learning styles and paces
Assist with reading comprehension, writing structure, spelling, and math problem-solving
Support organization, focus, and study habits
Track progress and communicate updates to parents
Maintain a calm, positive, and encouraging learning environment
Requirements (Recommended to Include)
Experience tutoring or teaching elementary-age students (classroom, homeschool, or private tutoring)
Strong understanding of elementary Math and English Language Arts
Ability to differentiate instruction for multiple grade levels
Patient, dependable, and child-friendly
Clear communication skills with both children and parents
Reliable transportation and consistent availability Mon–Wed
Preferred (Nice to Have)
Background in education, child development, or a related field
Familiarity with homeschool or alternative education settings
Experience working with different learning styles or attention needs
Ability to create or supplement lesson plans and activities
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
