    SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, the PT Maintenance person will be responsible for engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, hotel property and grounds including repairs in guest suites and common areas. The Maintenance person will also perform repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, kitchen, and laundry equipment as necessary.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    Responds to engineering and maintenance concerns.

    Performs and/or monitors maintenance and preventative maintenance projects.

    Responds to all building related safety concerns.

    Maintains departmental compliance with hotel maintenance procedures.

    Supports hotel departmental maintenance programs and executes daily, weekly and monthly checklists.

    Assists in the supervision of temporary maintenance associates.

    Assist management in specifying proper supplies and equipment for operations.

    Deals with guest related concerns.

    Maintain the guest rooms, public space, and back of the hotel areas in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall covering and tiling to ensure an attractive and well-maintained hotel.

    Must possess knowledge of basic hand/power tool operation.

    Performs other duties as required within the scope of responsibility.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or GED preferred. Minimum of six (6) months experience in the hotel industry preferred - specifically within the maintenance/engineering area OR experience from facility-related position in other industry or from the construction industry. Should have basic understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry concepts as well as ability to paint and use tools.

    License/Certification: HVAC certification a plus.

    Language Skills: Ability to exercise excellent communication, organization, time management and listening skills. Fluency in a second language is an advantage.

    Computer Skills: Ability to accurately compute and manipulate mathematical calculations.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to manage priorities and be able to adapt to meet the diverse needs of our guests. Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger. Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.

Duties may be performed in an indoor or outdoor setting. Must be able to work weekends and evenings as required and be available to respond to emergencies after hours. The noise level in the work environment is frequently moderate to loud.
