Job Summary
The Parts Counter Sales Associate is responsible for assisting internal and external customers with inquiries, orders, and purchases of parts and accessories for motorcycle and powersports products. They are also responsible for helping to maintain the parts department, retail sale floor, and displays to meet or exceed the dealerships standards. As with all positions within our dealership, a Parts Counter Sales Associate is expected to be committed to excellent customer service, uphold the highest ethical standards, and work cooperatively with all departments.
Essential Functions
A. Customer Service
Interact with customers on the telephone, face-to-face, or via computer
Greet all customers in a courteous manner
Treat customers fairly, with dignity and honesty
Listen attentively to the customers’ needs
Recommend products appropriately
Look up and order parts using parts manuals (hard copy and electronic)
Provide quotes and other information to customers
Advise customers on the use of products or services
Explain technical product information to customers
Know the location of parts within the dealership
Fill customer orders from stock
Place customer orders when requested items are out of stock
Seek parts from other dealers or outside suppliers when needed
Process cores, warranties, and new return merchandise as required at a point of sale.
Process sales transactions accurately and promptly
Record all sales and/or customer transactions that occur according to dealership procedures
Use a cash register to collect payments and return proper change
Follow prescribed cash, credit, and check processing procedures of the dealership
Examine returned parts for defects, and exchange defective parts or refund money.
Interface with service technicians and ensure their parts and accessories needs are met
Use and operate a computer and multiple computer programs
Use the telephone system appropriately
B. Environment
Maintain a clean, orderly, and efficient parts and accessories environment
Mark and store parts in stockrooms, display areas, and/or retail area according to prearranged systems
Assists in maintaining the retail sales floor and displays to meet or exceed the dealership’s standards
Performs routine housekeeping tasks that maintain and enhances the cleanliness of products and the retail sales area
Re-stock the parts department and retail floor inventory
Use dealership equipment and resources safely and proficiently
Follow all safety guidelines for the department and the dealership
Follow up on shortages and expedite by reporting to Parts Manager
Assist Key Account Manager as needed
C. General Responsibilities
Stay abreast of new trends and techniques pertaining to motorcycle and powersports parts.
Ensure that adequate internal controls exist and are functioning appropriately within assigned areas
Adhere to corporate policies/procedures, documentation standards, and applicable regulatory requirements (i.e., federal, state, local).
Exercises an appropriate level of courtesy, tact, and professional communications in dealing with others.
Contributes to a favorable public image of Honda Kawasaki KTM of Modesto

Minimum Education (or substitute experience)
Experience
Experience and/or knowledge of motorcycle and powersports parts
Light mechanical knowledge

Possess basic computer skills.
The ability to learn dealer management software and other related software.
The ability to use electronic messaging systems.
Communication Skills required
Ability to speak effectively and clearly.

Ability to follow instructions, both written and verbal.

Availability
§ Available to work 9am to 6pm, Tuesday through Saturday;
§ Ability to extend hours to evenings, weekends, and occasionally Mondays to achieve goals.
