Job Description
We are seeking a Human Resources Specialist to join our team! You will perform activities in human resources from recruiting new hires to retaining existing hires.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruit, interview and coordinate selection of hourly and salaried non-exempt employees to fill vacant positions.
- Coordinate temporary employment function with staffing firms.
- Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
- Manage layoff/recall of hourly employees according to policy and in a manner that maximizes labor efficiency.
- Advise production supervisors in use of good human relations practices in order to solve work related issues in a fair and consistent manner.
- Counsel and assist hourly production employees with adjustment to productive working situations.
- Recommend changes to policies, procedures, internal practices and HR documents follow current best practices.
- Process hourly performance reviews to ensure appraisals are completed on time and that wage increases are appropriately completed.
- Maintain hourly job descriptions to comply with federal and state labor laws and recommend reevaluation of positions when significant changes occur.
- Process, verify and maintain documentation relating to personnel activities such as staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations and classifications.
- Keep and maintain employee files up to date.
- Provide analysis of human resources transactions, workforce demographics, employment costs and external data to facilitate sound management decisions and/or to complete governmental reporting requirements.
- Provide additional human resources support to Company management or the human resources department as necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS/BA Degree from an accredited university with major coursework in human resources or related field or some college with prior 3-5 year human resources experience. PHR certification desired.
Above average human relations skills that demonstrate an ability to work with people at all levels of the organization.
Good working knowledge of MS Office programs and other database or payroll systems.
Excellent organizational, detail and record keeping abilities.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
