THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a NEW PRODUCT DESIGNER/DEVELOPER for the Impulse and Celebration Team, you will drive innovation into the team with under the guidance of the Product Development Director. This position requires out-of-the-box creativity, consumer and retail trend knowledge, and a keen eye for newness across multiple industry categories. As design arm of the NPD team, you will help to physically design products both 2D and 3D which are new to our business and help us to grow into new areas. This position offers you the ability to touch all types of products and materials, and help to steer our design team into new concepts and proofs of concept.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead new product ideation, design and concept generation, as new brands/programs, product extensions to existing brands/programs or stand-alone products that fill missing category voids.
• Design and create product for craft, kids toys, seasonal, stationery and home décor products.
• Create detailed technical mechanicals for new product development & design.
• Conduct market research to identify current and upcoming trends, retail gaps in product and packaging, and perform competitive retail landscape.
• Continually identify and drive improvements in existing product lines to ultimately deliver a better-performing product and increase product appeal.
• Collaborate with product development, merchandising, and product engineering team members to generate and execute new product and packaging concepts. Collaborate with design team members to generate style guide direction, oversee product and packaging creation.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

• Minimum 2 years of product development experience.
• Must have consumer product goods experience.
• Strong sense of product and illustration design.
• Impulse/ Seasonal product experience a plus.
• Must have Advanced knowledge of Adobe, Illustrator, Photoshop
• Experience with 2D and 3D Design Programs: Solidworks and/or Rhinoceros a plus.
• Ability to work on tight deadlines and fast paced environment.
• High energy, strong work ethic and driven.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with superior attention to detail.
