    Job Description

    Progressive Personal Injury and Worker’s Compensation Law Firm located in Chicago loop seeks experienced HR Generalist / Employee Relations Specialist. Responsibilities include employee management, recruitment and retention, office logistics, and legal compliance. Our 100 plus employees work together to fight for our clients’ rights and continually look for ways to improve in all areas. We need someone who can zoom out to see the big picture and fix structural issues and zoom in to understand the details of how each person contributes to the important work we do.

     

    JOB SUMMARY: The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff and enforcing company policies and practices.

     

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    ·         Effectively handle most day-to-day personnel matters.

    • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
    • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
    • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
    • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
    • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
    • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
    • Assess workplace situations, evaluates relevant information, and draw accurate observations.
    • develop effective solutions to employee issues such as providing access to career coaching, counseling, and support services.

    ·         researches, proposes, and implements new programs to enhance employee performance.

     

    • Ensure efficient flow of information throughout the company

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • Strong people management skills including ability to motivate and inspire employees.
    • Ability to work in collaborative decision-making environment.
    • Excellent organization and communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Good computer skills.
    • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task.
    • Self-motivated, tenacious, and resourceful.
    • Results-Oriented.
    • Three to five years management experience.
    • Degree in related field preferred.
    • Law firm experience a plus.
