At Harmony Hospice Care of San Antonio, we believe spiritual support is a vital part of holistic end-of-life care. We are seeking a compassionate and empathetic Hospice Chaplain / Pastoral Counselor to join our interdisciplinary team and provide meaningful emotional and spiritual support to patients and families during their most vulnerable moments.
Job Summary
As a hospice chaplain, you will provide spiritual counseling and emotional support to terminally ill patients and their families in their homes or care facilities. You will conduct spiritual assessments, facilitate community clergy involvement, and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure the spiritual component of care is integrated into the patient’s plan of care.
Compensation & Schedule
PRN flexible scheduling available
Mandatory participation in IDT (Interdisciplinary Team) meetings
IDT meetings compensated at $35 per hour
Patient visits compensated at $55 per PRN / visit per patient
Additional trip fee paid for each patient visit
Key Responsibilities
Assess and support patients’ and families’ spiritual and emotional needs
Provide direct counseling and non-denominational spiritual support
Coordinate with local clergy or religious communities when requested
Participate in interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the clinical record and plan of care
Uphold and promote Harmony’s mission and values of compassionate hospice care
Qualifications
Education: Master of Divinity preferred (or equivalent theological training)
Experience: At least 1 year of experience in spiritual counseling or chaplaincy (healthcare or hospice setting preferred)
Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with understanding of diverse faiths and cultural backgrounds
Technical Knowledge: Experience with or knowledge of WellSky/Kinnser EMR systems is a plus
Transportation: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance required
