Nurse Practitioner (NP) – Hospice & Palliative Care

    Royal Hospice | Portland, OR

Royal Hospice was founded on a simple belief:

Frailty is not the absence of strength, but the invitation to presence.

We are a small, grounded hospice team devoted to integrity in end-of-life care. We believe every person deserves to be witnessed, not silenced. Honored, not handled. Our work is not rushed. It is not transactional. It is a commitment to presence, clinical discernment, and human dignity.

Position Overview We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) with experience or strong interest in hospice and palliative care to provide compassionate, patient-centered medical care for individuals at the end of life.

This role blends clinical excellence with relational presence. You will support symptom management, guide complex care decisions, and collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary hospice team to ensure care aligns with each patient’s values and goals.

    What You’ll Do

Perform in person visits for recertification and track benefit period schedule

Provide advanced practice care including assessment, diagnosis, and recommendations for management of pain and symptoms

Prescribe medications and treatments in alignment with hospice philosophy and patient goals as needed

Collaborate with physicians, RNs, social workers, and chaplains

Ensure compliance with hospice regulations and documentation standards

Who You Are You are both clinically strong and deeply human.

You understand that end-of-life care requires more than medical skill—it requires presence, restraint, and the ability to listen beyond words. You are comfortable navigating complexity, supporting families in distress, and making thoughtful decisions in moments that matter.

You don’t just treat symptoms—you protect dignity.

    Qualifications

Active Nurse Practitioner license in Oregon

Board certification (FNP, AGNP, or related specialty)

Experience in hospice, palliative care, geriatrics, or complex care preferred

Strong communication skills and comfort with end-of-life discussions

Knowledge of hospice regulations and interdisciplinary care models

Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a care team

    Why Royal Hospice

A mission-driven culture centered on presence, integrity, and ethical care

    Supportive interdisciplinary team environment

Flexible scheduling and sustainable workload expectations

    Competitive pay based on experience

We’re not just looking for experience only—we’re looking for alignment. Tell us what drives you to provide hospice care, and what it means to care for someone at the end of life.
