We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and highly motivated Hospice Volunteer Coordinator to lead our volunteer program. This position is responsible for recruiting, training, scheduling, and supporting volunteers who provide companionship, respite, and administrative support for hospice patients, families, and staff. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who thrives on building relationships and ensuring a positive volunteer experience while supporting the hospice mission.
Key Responsibilities: Recruit, screen, ad onboard hospice volunteers in compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation (COPs) Coordinate volunteer assignments based on patient needs and volunteer availability provide initial orientation and ongoing annual education to all volunteers maintain accurate volunteer records including background checks, health requirements, competencies, and training track and report volunteer hours to ensure federal compliance and program effectiveness collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to identify patients in need of volunteer services such as respite, legacy projects, or vigil support Offer regular support, recognition, and engagement opportunities for volunteers prepare report for leadership, audits, and QAPI Represent the hospice at community events and recruitment activities Uphold confidentiality, safety standards, and hospice philosophy
Qualifications: Previous experience in volunteer management, social services, hospice, non-profit administration, or related field Experience in hospice, healthcare, or end of life care Knowledge of Medicare hospice regulations Strong organizational and time management skills excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Ability to maintain professional boundaries and support volunteers in emotionally sensitive environments Comfortable with public speaking and training groups Proficient with computers, databases, spreadsheets, and email communication Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
