We’re seeking a result driven and positive leader with a solid hospitality/housekeeping background to help bolster our housekeeping efforts at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites.
Job Purpose: This position is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping staff, public space areas, guestrooms, and laundry to exceed guest expectations and are in accordance with hotel/franchise standards. This position participates in the development and implementation of processes, procedures, safety and quality standards that support the achievement of the hotel's service and financial goals.
Job Responsibilities:
Supervises daily operations in maintaining the maintenance/sanitation of the guestrooms, public areas, and pool.
Recommends and implements procedural changes and monitors inventory and expenses.
Implements standards and procedures for the work of housekeepers, house persons, and laundry staff.
Plans work schedules to ensure quality and efficient service to concur with the business need
Manage Human Resources within the department in order to attract, retain and motivate the associates; recommend hires, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, and provide open communication vehicles, discipline, and recommend termination as appropriate.
Ensure all associates within the department are properly trained up to standards and meets all Hotel requirements and brand standards – IHG.
Proper knowledge of Hazardous Communications, Blood Borne Pathogens, Proper Lifting Techniques while providing comprehensive training programs for all new hires, as well as review training material periodically for senior associates in order to stay ahead of any changes throughout the area of Housekeeping.
Respond to guest request, concerns and problems to ensure guest satisfaction.
Control labors cost based on forecast rooms, as well as adheres to budget for the current year.
Oversee the inspection of all housekeeping services.
Inspects and evaluates the cleanliness of the hotel, to ensure the hotel meets brand standards.
Provide pro-active feedback to management on recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space.
Maintains inventory, supplies, and equipment.
Complete monthly inventories of linen.
Purchase supplies as needed, paying close attention to the budget.
Follow up on engineering repairs, as to ensure quality service, protecting hotel assets, ensure safety, accident-free environment for guests and associates and maintain/improve guest satisfaction.
Investigates new and improved cleaning instruments and methods.
Ensure payroll, and labor reporting is completed in a timely manner.
Responsible for staff scheduling
Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
Participate in task force and other committees.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, required
Four-year college degree and/or equivalent experience in Hospitality
4 years’ experience in the hospitality field as Executive Housekeeper/Housekeeping Manager required
Minimum 3 years’ experience as Executive Housekeeper/Manager in a hotel setting, preferred
Minimum of 2 years’ experience with MS Office/Excel/PowerPoint
Skills:
Attention to detail, customer focused and the ability to perform job duties in a repetitious and fast paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
5-6 years’ prior hotel housekeeping director experience, preferred
Prefer, minimum 1-year experience with OPERA/QUORE
Experience with Lost & Found System, Charger Back Preferred
English language required, written and verbal, other languages highly recommended.
Physical Requirements:
Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds/23 kilograms and ability to push/pull medium to large weights/objects
Frequently standing up and moving about the facility
Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility
Frequently bending, stooping, and kneeling
Heavy physical labor may be necessary.
Other:
Communication skills used frequently when interacting with guests and employees
Basic reading, writing, and math abilities are used often when reading room assignments, completing checklists, replacing room linens and amenities
Have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and/or holidays
