The First Impression & The Lasting One
The Host is one of the most important roles in the guest experience. From the moment a guest enters until their final goodbye, the Host sets the tone for warmth, efficiency, and hospitality. A successful host is friendly, organized, calm under pressure, and solution-oriented—always finding a way to say yes.
Core Responsibilities
Greet and welcome each guest with a great attitude and positive body language
Answer phones with professionalism, friendliness, and attentiveness
Possess a working knowledge of:
Hours of operation
Menu offerings
Seating layout and options
Understand and use the OpenTable reservation system and waitlist features
Know seating parameters and communicate clearly what can and cannot be accommodated
Take initiative to create a smooth guest flow, even during peak times
Demonstrate good knowledge of the menu and basic allergen awareness
Use the POS system to:
Take to-go orders
Process cash and credit card transactions accurately
Assist in bussing and resetting tables when needed
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host area and entryway (including windows and doors)
Execute opening and closing procedures as assigned
Complete other duties as assigned
