Position Summary
The Host is more than a greeter, they’re the heartbeat of the guest journey. Our Host is a polished, warm, and highly organized person who creates the first and last impression of Lani Rooftop Lounge.
Responsible for welcoming guests, managing flow and reservations, coordinating the dining room and outdoor rooftop seating, and ensuring a smooth, elevated guest experience. This role blends precision, poise, and personality to ensure every guest feels seen, welcomed, and seamlessly guided into the Lani Rooftop Lounge experience.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and Welcome Guests: Offer a genuine, composed greeting; manage waiting lists and prioritize reservations according to house policies.
Reservation and Seating Management: Operate the reservation system; confirm/modify reservations; seat parties promptly and with attention to table mix, view preferences, and service flow.
Flow Coordination: Maintain real-time awareness of dining room and rooftop capacity; collaborate with servers, bar, and management to optimize turns and guest satisfaction.
Guest Communication: Answer phone and walk-up inquiries professionally; relay wait times, menu highlights, special events, and membership benefits
First-Line Problem Resolution: Handle guest concerns calmly and escalate to management when needed; ensure dissatisfied guests leave with a positive perception
Host Stand Presentation: Keep the host station tidy, stocked with menus, reservation book, and promotional materials; ensure signage and waiting-area amenities match Lani’s aesthetic
Team Support: Assist servers with bussing or simple tasks during peak periods when needed
Upsell and Brand Advocacy: Promote seasonal cocktails, special menus, COhatch membership perks, and upcoming events with tasteful suggestions
Safety and Compliance: Enforce capacity, waitlist, and age-restriction policies; follow all health, safety, and employee conduct standards
Qualifications
1+ year in a high-volume hospitality front-of-house role preferred; rooftop, lounge, or upscale casual experience a plus
Ability to effectively listen to and respond to customer needs
Must have a courteous, friendly and professional demeanor
Ability to multitask efficiently
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; confident on the phone; comfortable with reservation platforms and POS basics
Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and seasonal programming
Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time
Ability to lift 50 pounds
