The Hospitality and Private Events department of the Skirball Cultural Center seeks a capable Host. Reporting to the Assistant Onsite Dining Manager as the first and last point of contact, the Host is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring a positive dining experience for all guests. This role involves managing the flow of the dining room, coordinating with waitstaff, and assisting guests with reservations and seating.
This is a part-time position (24 hours per week).
Salary: $20.25/hour

Responsibilities :
Greet and welcome guests warmly upon their arrival and thank them as they leave.
Manage the restaurant's waiting list and provide accurate wait time estimates to guests.
Escort guests to their tables or to the waiting area and present them with menus.
Optimize the restaurant's seating chart to ensure a fair and even workload for all waitstaff.
Answer incoming phone calls and address questions concerning the menu, hours, and reservations.
Assist guests with scheduling reservations, especially for large parties.
Monitor and track the status of tables (occupied, clean, dirty) to assist with seating efficiency.
Bus and reset tables for the next guests.
Collaborate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and efficient dining experience.
Fill to-go orders and process payments, if applicable.
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the host area, front entrance, and restrooms throughout the shift.

Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes :
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Prior restaurant experience is preferred but not required.
Skills: Experience with a point-of-sale (POS) system, such as Toast Tables/Toast POS, is preferred.
Availability: Must be able to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
