We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Hotel Engineering Assessment Manager to lead the assessment of hotel properties across our portfolio. This role involves evaluating the physical condition and operational integrity of hotel assets, ranging from building systems and infrastructure to IT networks and brand compliance. 100% travel role. Responsibilities: The ideal candidate brings a blend of engineering and facilities expertise, up-to-date knowledge of hotel technology systems, and strong writing and analytical skills. This position also plays a key role in capital planning, vendor coordination, and special projects, including hotel transitions, renovations, and acquisition support. Key Responsibilities Asset & Facility Inspections Conduct thorough on-site evaluations of all physical hotel components including: • HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems • Roofing, foundation, and building envelope • Public spaces, back-of-house areas, and exterior grounds • Identify maintenance issues, code violations, and safety concerns. Technology & IT Infrastructure Review IT systems such as: • Guest and back-office networks (LAN/Wi-Fi, switches, cabling) • Security systems (CCTV, access control), POS, and PMS platforms • Ensure systems are compliant, secure, scalable, and meet brand standards. • Collaborate with IT teams to identify upgrades and prioritize capital expenditures. Reporting & Documentation • Create detailed, well-written inspection reports including photographic documentation and capital needs summaries. • Develop and maintain standardized templates, dashboards, and scorecards for consistent reporting. Capital Planning & Budgeting • Recommend infrastructure and technology capital projects. • Build and maintain short- and long-term Capex plans. • Support budget development and perform ROI analysis on major initiatives. PIP Review & Cost Estimation • Analyze brand-issued Property Improvement Plans (PIPs) for scope, feasibility, and cost. • Provide accurate pricing using current vendor and contractor data. • Maintain an up-to-date database of regional trade and material costs. Vendor Management • Monitor market rates and vendor availability across engineering and IT. • Coordinate bids and project scopes with contractors, ensuring quality standards are met. Special Projects & Taskforce Support • Participate in or lead taskforce assignments for hotel transitions, distressed properties, renovations, and openings. • Advise asset managers on infrastructure reliability, timelines, and capital planning. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Engineering, Facilities Management, IT, Architecture, or a related field. • 8+ years of experience in hotel engineering, asset management, or facility evaluation. • Strong working knowledge of hotel IT infrastructure and cybersecurity fundamentals. • Exceptional writing and reporting skills. • Experience with Capex planning and brand-driven PIPs. • Proficient in Microsoft Office, PDF tools, and reporting software. • Familiarity with hospitality operations, building codes, ADA, and fire/life safety systems. • Ability to travel 100% of the time and work independently on-site. • Must be able to lift up to 65 lbs and stand for extended periods. Preferred Skills • Experience with hotel tech platforms (e.g., Opera PMS, Mitel/Avaya, Cisco/Meraki). • Understanding of PCI compliance and hospitality cybersecurity best practices. • PMP or project management experience strongly preferred. • Background in hotel operations or construction/renovation oversight. • Established network of vendors and trades in engineering and IT.
