  • Responsibilities

    The hotel handyman is responsible for preserving the physical structure, grounds, and equipment of the property to ensure safety, guest satisfaction, and like-new conditions. They tackle daily guest repair requests, complete routine preventative maintenance, and assist with general facility upkeep. Responsibilities: • Room Maintenance: Resolve guest room issues such as leaky faucets, clogged toilets, faulty light switches, damaged door locks, and loose furniture. • Cosmetic Upkeep: Perform surface preparation, painting, drywall patching, wallpaper repair, and tile or tub caulking. • Preventative Maintenance: Routinely inspect HVAC systems, change air filters, check pool/spa equipment, and lubricate mechanical room tools. • Exterior & Grounds: Assist with basic landscaping, pressure washing walkways, removing debris, and maintaining parking or sports court areas. • Record Keeping: Track daily maintenance activities, manage parts and supply inventory, and report recurring or major issues to the Chief Engineer. Technical SpecificationsPhysical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for 8+ hours, climb ladders, and comfortably use power/hand tools. • Safety Protocols: Knowledge of OSHA guidelines, lockout/tagout procedures, and basic hotel life-safety systems. • Communication: Ability to utilize two-way radios, property management systems, and communicate clearly in English with guests and staff. Core CompetenciesPlumbing: Fix leaks, replace flushometers, and snake drains. • Electrical: Change ballasts, replace outlets, and troubleshoot light fixtures. • Carpentry: Repair doors, tighten hinges, and assemble or fix wood furniture. Customer Service • Approachable and friendly, capable of reassuring guests when fixing problems in their rooms. Qualifications: • Prior handyman or maintenance experience required.
